What does it cost to hire Doug Payne?

It costs you, the buyer, absolutely nothing to use my services. I receive a portion of the sales commission which is paid by the seller much like in the residential real estate industry. In fact, typically, you will save money. My negotiations experience and pricing data available to me should produce a better sales price and good value from the various vendors who will provide services to you during the transaction and after the sale for as long as you own the boat.
What Should You Do?

Engaging a professional yacht broker as your buyer’s representative will serve you well in finding that perfect boat. I will represent only you and will:
  1. Realistically assess your needs by asking you questions about how you will use your new boat.
  2. Research makes and models of sailing yachts that meet your needs.
  3. Help you establish a budget.
  4. Find and research specific boats to look at locally and possibly nationally, to assure you only look at vessels that meet your criteria and are within your budgeted price range.
  5. Arrange showings of targeted yachts, accompanying you on those visits.
  6. Help you decide if an offer should be made on a particular boat.
  7. Evaluate asking prices and help you structure the terms of an offer.
  8. Navigate the necessary paper work to protect you the buyer through out the process.
  9. Facilitate negotiation, working with the listing broker to assure a fair deal is struck.
  10. Help coordinate the buyer’s survey, test sail, and acceptance of the vessel, providing advice and contacts for financing and insurance.
  11. Oversee the closing process to assure all important details are completed.
  12. Provide assistance after the sale including familiarization with your new boat and its systems.
  13. Assist with the sale of your current sailboat.
